Dialogue with the Board of the University about student representation
In March 2015, a special University Council has been organized to facilitate a dialogue between the Board of Directors and the University Council about co-determination. The University Council was organized in light of the events at the University of Amsterdam. Generally speaking, we could take notice of the fact that co-determination at the UG is workin properly thanks to the harmony model. However, we are always on the search of improvement of the co-determination model. Therefore, we have argued for, among others:
– Active and realy involvement of students in decision-making before decisions are laid down
– Transfer of co-determination rights to faculty councils when competencies are being transferred to a decentral level
– Right of advice to the (re)appointment of the Rector Magnificus
