Transparant management

Openness, transparency and the right to be heard are three of the core values of the University of Groningen (UG). Lijst Calimero prioritizes these values and pleads for more open communication from the Board of Directors. Lijst Calimero will represent the students’ interests and strengthen the system of co-determination. Furtherore, we plead for more transprancy with regard to the plan of the Branch Campus Yantai.

The importance of co-determination and student participation

For Lijst Calimero, representing the interests of all the 30.000 students within the University is always the main priority. It is of crucial importance that students feel they are being listened to throughout the year. Therefore, we organize Thinktanks, visibility acitivities and other activities, together with our support faction. This way, we are try to stimulate students to participate and bring forward their views and opinions, so that we represent students as best as we can.

Transparency with regards to Yantai

Lijst Calimero believes that the UG should be more transparent about the plans with regards to opening a branch campus in Yantai. If the University Groningen Yantai is founded, the quality of education in Groningen and in Yantai should always be the first priority. We find it of utmost importance that there is support for the plan in Yantai among teachers and students.

Clarity about the spending of education funds from the government

A crucial part of transparent governance also includes transparency about the finances of the University. Lijst Calimero believes that students should always be able to know how the university spends the paid tuition fees. We therefore believe that it should be clear to students exactly how university funds are distributed among faculties and departments.

Openness about decisions

Lijst Calimero believes it is important that the Board of Directors communicates honestly and clearly about all decisions taken. Especially when it comes to decisions that are of great impact for students, such as the opening of branch campuses in the Provence of Friesland and in China. Lijst Calimero thinks that the quality of education and the interests of students should never be at stake and that the Board of Directors should be transparent about its ambitions.
