It is with great pleasure that we introduce you to our number 9 this year – Dana Entcheva! This is what she has to say to you about her ambitions and aspirations with Calimero:
“Dear friends,
My name is Dana Entcheva and I am a 21 years old student originally coming from Bulgaria. Currently, I am in my final year of the International Economics and Business bachelor program at the faculty of Economics and Business. Next to my studies I am also an active committee member within ESN Groningen and I am also a student ambassador at my faculty. What’s more, last semester I had the most imponderable joy to have the possibility of having my study abroad in Seoul, South Korea where my international horizons were truly broadened. Above all, I care deeply about the transition of our university to a truly global state. This transition should be represented by expanded opportunities for all students to gain an equally global experience during their study curriculums. Hence, in this upcoming academic year it is my strong ambition to represent all of your voices in the University Council with Lijst Calimero where the quality of education is always a top priority.
Living in Groningen for the last three years has made one thing more than others stand out as a continuous problem for internationals, as equally important as integration, and that is housing. More than once have I experienced the struggle of dealing with agencies, contracts, etc. and more than once have I felt cheated by the system. There have been numerous attempts for improving the living standard in international student housing, yet there is still a large gap in the ease with which second-year’s and natives handle their living arrangements and the struggles of newcomers. What is missing are awareness and your opinions, your experiences! Let your voices make thé difference, choose quality, choose Calimero!”
