How to: request a board grant and tuition-free board year

Are you going to do a board year next year? Or did you already start but didn’t request your graduation funds yet? In this how-to we will try to explain what you have to do.
Do you want to apply for graduation funds? Go to www.rug.nl/studievertraging and hand in the application during your board year. You will have to hand in two documents of evidence. The first one is a written statement of the board in which the allocation of months is defined. The second one is a notification from DUO stating that you are or were entitled to a performance related grant (such as your OV or a complementary grant). If you are a board member of a student affairs organisation or if you are a member of a student participation body, then you have to upload the statement of instalment.
Do you want to make use of the regulation for a tuition-free board year? Sign up before the 12th of August 2017 via www.rug.nl/studievertraging. Be aware that you can only make use of this regulation if you fulfil the requirements. Until now, you have to be on track with your study, which means that you have to be within the official time period of your study without any delays. Alternatively, you would have had to graduate (Bachelor’s degree) within four years. Also, you need to be entitled to at least five boards months and your board year needs to have a minimum overlap of 9 months with the academic year in which you want to make use of the regulation. You will have to hand in the same documentary evidence as for your graduation funds and you can request postponement for handing in your grade lists if you did not receive the results of your most recent exams.
